SHAQUILLE O’NEAL TO REIGN AS BACCHUS LVI
Shaquille O’Neal will reign as Bacchus LVI on Sunday, March 2, 2025. The former LSU Tiger and four-time NBA champion, successful businessman, in-demand sports analyst, media personality, recording artist, DJ and humanitarian will be throwing miniature basketballs as well as King’s doubloons and cups.
The theme of the 56th Bacchus parade is “Louisiana’s Fairs and Festivals.” The procession will feature 32 hand-painted floats designed by Kern Studios with such titles as Pontchatoula Strawberry Festival, Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival, Rayne Frog Festival and Oktoberfest.
Bacchus’s traditional signature floats include the Baccha-Kong family, Bacchasaurus, Bacchawhoppa, Baccha-Amore, Bacchaneer, Bacchagator and The Chariot. Krewe’s 1700 riders will toss more than 200 unique custom throws including 38 different socks. Bacchus also handpicks more than 32 of the finest marching bands in the South to add to the spirit of the parade.
Previous celebrities who have reigned as Bacchus include Kevin Dillon (2024) as well as Bob Hope, Danny Kaye, Anthony Mackie, Will Ferrell, Nicolas Cage, Adam Devine and Andy Garcia.
The Bacchus parade will roll Sunday, March 2 at 5:15 p.m. and follow the traditional uptown route. Krewe members and their guests will greet the parade at the Bacchus Rendezvous where entertainment will include ZZ Top, the Yat Pack, Vynilyn and Rooney G.
