Updates from Bacchus and Orpheus

The official kick off to Carnival season, the Twelfth Night is just a month and a day away on January 6! Mardi Gras itself, March 4 this year is just under three months away! I’m slightly excited, I don’t know about you.

Now that we’re getting down to the final stretch before the start of the festivities, Krewes are starting to come up with updates left and right.

Out of the Bacchus den, they had an announcement about their celebrity ruler. In 2014, it will be none other than Hugh Laurie of House fame. His ties to New Orleans include recently performing at a Tipitina’s fundraiser to help restore Professor Longhair’s house in Central City.

From the Krewe of Orpheus, they announced their music lineup for their Orpheuscapade. This year’s headliners are rock and rollers Cheap Trick. They’ll be joined by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a swing band from California and the Party Crashers, a Texas band, a high energy cover band coming back for their third Orpheuscapade. Orpheuscapade this year is Lundi Gras, March 3.
