Nyx Nixed for 2025

In May, the New Orleans Council voted to revoke the Mystic Krewe of Nyx’s parade permit for 2025. Nyx has traditionally rolled behind Druids on the Wednesday before Mardi Gras. 

In April, City Councilman JP Morrell accused Nyx of parading without the required number of marching bands. Members also tossed throws advertising for membership and they advertised as well on social media. Both are no-nos.

Controversy has followed the krewe since the captain posted “All Lives Matter” in the throw of the “Black Lives Matter” movement which some members thought was insensitive. Founded in 2012, the Mystic Krewe of Nyx always prided itself on embracing women of diverse backgrounds.

Whether another parade will fill their spot the Wednesday before Fat Tuesday is still unknown.
