Family Gras 2012

The world often thinks of Mardi Gras as an adults-only party that centers around Mardi Gras day, but New Orleans and the surrounding areas want everyone to be able to participate in the revelry.

Take, for instance, Family Gras. As the name indicates, Family Gras is a perfectly safe event for families of all ages. The three-day event sets up across from the Lakeside Mall in Metairie, Louisiana and offers live bands and incredible food.

Bands include several of New Orleans’ favorites like Cowboy Mouth and Amanda Shaw, and this year’s event will even include The Bacon Brothers featuring Kevin Bacon.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes for each of the themed evenings.

• Show your love for Mardi Gras with Carnival Sunday

Satuday: 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Sunday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
